Cheltenham Area Guide

A large spa town on the outskirts of the Cotswolds, Cheltenham is steeped in history and culture, making it a perfect place to live for individuals, couples and families. With plenty of green spaces and beautiful countryside close to hand, it’s easy to see why Cheltenham is a town to call home for many.

Living in Cheltenham

Given its close proximity to the A40 and easily commutable distance to Gloucester and Worcester, as well as being the home of GCHQ, Cheltenham is a great location to call home in terms of its accessibility. With cities including Birmingham and Bristol within reaching distance, and Oxford not a long way away either, this beautiful town on the edge of the stunning Cotswolds is ideal.

A hub for history

Known as a spa town due to the discovery in 1716 of mineral springs, Cheltenham has since become a home to various cultural festivals and events, including the Cheltenham Literature, Jazz, Science and Music festivals, as well as the Cricket and Food & Wine festivals too. There is also the annual Cheltenham Festival, a four-day horse event that culminates in the Gold Cup steeplechase. Whatever time of year, there’s always plenty going on in Cheltenham culturally and socially.

A home for architecture

Cheltenham is also lucky to boast a variety of different architectural styles throughout the town. From Regency buildings - such as Cheltenham Town Hall - to the Grade I listed buildings that surround Montpellier Gardens, through to modern homes, there is a huge variety of houses and homes throughout, and always plenty to choose from on Peter Ball & Co’s website. Why not take a look?

Choosing Cheltenham

Along with an abundance of different property types available on the market for rent and to purchase all year round, Cheltenham also boasts some fantastic schools, including the renowned Cheltenham Ladies College, as well as fabulous bars, restaurants and shops. The town also boasts sporting clubs including Cheltenham Football Club, Cheltenham Saracens Rugby Union Club, and one of the largest croquet clubs in England. Whatever you’re looking for in your next home, you can be certain that Cheltenham will offer it.
